What a gem of a hotel! If you're economy minded and looking for a clean, well kept hotel, then I highly recommend the Cairn Croft. We only pai $99 per night and think this is a hidden gem of a hotel. The hotel staff was very friendly and very accomodating to our needs. We have 7-year old twins and a 14 year old and everybody was happy. The pool area was great as well as the TWO hot tubs. They also have a great play area for the little ones and an arcade.
We reserved a standard room (two queen beds) through Expedia, and upon checking in, asked if there were any family suites. Unfortunately they were sold out, but the front desk did recommend a larger room that had two queen beds, and a bunk bed as well as a refrigerator. The room was quite a bit larger than their standard room and they upgraded us at no charge. It made a world of difference. What's also nice is that this room is in a seperate building from the actual hotel and very quiet.
The bar is very quaint and the bartenders are great to talk to, especially Jon. Weekdays are very quiet and laid-back, but watch out for the weekend, plenty of music and dancing.
Niagara Falls was only a five minute drive away and you can park all day at the Skylon Tower for only $5.00 or on the street. If you park on the street, it's a dollar an hour with a two hour maximum, but you can just change the ticket when your time is close to expire.
Dining choices were abundant. McDonald's is right next to the hotel and Wendy's is across the street. Just up the street is a place called the Flying Saucer diner and a breakfast of two eggs, potato's and toast can be had for only 99 cents! Add bacon for $2.99 and sausage for $3.99, still a bargain. The Cairn Croft also has a great breakfast special for only $4.99. Restaurants are abundant on Lundy's Lane, but the closer you get to the falls, the higher the prices.

Overall, I really can't say enough about this hotel. It was everything we hoped it would be and more.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. We found the staff welcoming and very friendly. Our room was clean and comfortable. We had a court side room that was lovely. The pool area was fantastic with lots to do for the kids and adults. The pool area was shut down prompty at 10:00 PM, court area at 11:00 PM and it was quiet as a mouse for sleeping. We stayed in the tower of this hotel 2 years (minus children) and we also loved that room! We had a whirlpool room which was clean, large and very nice. The outside access doors of the hotel are locked and will open with room key. What a nice security feeling! This hotel is close to everything (you will need to drive). There is free parking (a rarity in Niagara Falls) and free wireless internet. This is definitely a hotel our family will visit again. We had a great stay!

I just got back from a 2 nights stay at the Best Western. I have stayed at several hotels over the years, ranging in price and value, and this was by far the best experience I've ever had. Front Desk was wonderful and very accomodating. While the room we stayed in looked like it needed updating, it was clean. And others we knew staying there had very nice rooms and looked very up to date.
We were there for a wedding I was in, and the reception was held in the hotel's "Oak Room". The kitchen staff was AMAZING!!! They had chicken fingers and fries ready within 5 minutes of seeing that the flower girl and ring bearer didn't like the dinner served. All staff members were polite and friendly, and the housekeeper we had was outstanding - so much so that i tracked her down upon departure to give her an extra tip. I felt like I should have given every employee I saw a tip.
They made our weekend fantastic. And I am planning a weekend in niagara with my family just so we can stay in such a wonderful place. Customer service is everything, and I'm overwhelmingly impressed - especially when I've stayed at 5 star hotels and their service was lacking and was made to feel like we were inconveincing them. Not at the Best Western. Outstanding!!!!
We never got a chance to use the pool, but it looked very inviting and clean! There is a little playground in the pool area - looked great for kids, and a mini arcade of sorts - I can't wait for my kids to check it out.

Was looking for a winter getaway something for us all to do - have 2 children 9-6. We booked a hotel on the web in the courtyard, as they told us on the phone that we had to have a 2 night min stay, but the web allowed us to stay for one night only in the courtyard. This is the place to stay as the kids have access to the large play area and the pool, hot tubs etc. Note, if you don't have kids, you might think its a bit noisy as the kids do run around as its like an indoor playground for them. The rooms were spotless and well kept. There is a mini fridge in the rooms, everything is new. You can sit outside and play cards/games (a lot of families were doing that) there is a full bar available. Unfortunately we had only one night stay as on Saturday there is a kids club and pizza and movie night. It was a real treat for the kids, especially since it wa -21 outside. We did venture to the falls but the kids wanted to get back as they made friends and were very happy just staying at the hotel. Would highly recommend it... I've passed on this to my friends and I'm looking forward to going back. As for the restaurant, very friendly and cheap breakfast. Food was good, didn't have any complaints, expect the plate was a bit small (and that's really nothing to complain about). Hope this review helps you choose this great hotel. You will enjoy.

We loved the hotel, while not walking distance from the falls, it was clean, well maintained and freindly with children. The pool was large and warm. The atrium made it nice as well. The staff was helpful and friendly.
I would not recommend the pancakes in the restaurant for breakfast, the french toast was good though. The pancakes were dry and tased like "toaster" variety. It's the only meal we ate at the hotel.
It is close to many family friendly restaurants. We had a great time

The Pros: Reasonable rates (courtyard rooms), nice tropical interior (enclosed courtyard) which gives you some hotel-based things to do in case of rain, short distance (driving, not walking) to the falls and Clifton Hill, and basically clean and comfortable.
The Cons: Exterior and surrounding area are a little drab (mostly small businesses, chain restaurants, and homes), the courtyard can be very noisy (easily heard from inside the room), the smell of bleach in the courtyard.
I think a family with kids would find this ideal. I don't have kids yet, but I would opt for this hotel in a heartbeat if I did. The courtyard area will keep the little ones busy on rainy days and in the evening. If you are traveling with several families and get connecting rooms, you can let the kids run free while you sit and chat. This bonus for families can be a negative for couples on a quiet getaway. For something more romantic, somewhere closer to the falls (especially something with a view) is probably a better idea. If you're on a budget or would rather spend your money on good food and entertainment, then this is a decent option for a place to rest your head.
The Cairn Croft serves as a good home base to the touristy things to do in Niagara Falls.

Recently stayed at the Cairn Croft for the weekend with my golf buddies. We usually go to the states to golf but decided to try Niagara. The hotel was awesome, great staff very attentive to our needs as golfers, confirmed our tee times, gave us a free drink for their bar. Rooms were a good size and very comfortable beds. Ate breakfast at the hotel - excellent prices under $5 bucks for a complete breakfast. The golf in Niagara was some of the best we've played. We will be back - give them a try - you won't be disappointed

I thought we would like this place more because of the existing reviews and the pool. All in all, I was a little disappointed and have to say it was just "okay".
The hotel was clean and the staff was decent. There are family restuarants near the hotel (Pizza Hut, Mc Donalds) and that was good. The pool was nice.
We stayed in the atrium, which is sunny, but noisy. You can hear the kids in the pool and at the play place. Things didn't settle down until 9:30 or so.
If you stay on the second floor of the atrium be notified that there is no elavator. This is difficult when you have a baby with a stroller, your luggage and misc. stuff to carry. The front desk offered to have someone help us, but they said it would be 20 minutes or so. By that time, we had carried everything upstairs ourself.
I would try another hotel closer to the falls next time.

My wife, I and my grandson stayed at the Cairn Croft Aug 10th and 11th. The pool area is great for kids. On both days we were there, the pool was filled with kids having a great time. The tropical theme is very nice. The room on the first floor of the pool area is a decent room but needs some serious carpet cleaning. My wife complained that the floor around the pool needed cleaning because the bottom of her feet were getting so dirty. Later she found that the dirt wasn't coming from the pool area but from the carpet in our room. After I looked at it I could see that it needed some serious cleaning.
I expect the best from Best Western. For the rate that I paid ($143 per night) I don't expect to have to complain about how filthy the carpet is. Somebody in management needs to take note. I noticed a couple of other recent postings that suggest the same thing.

We recently visited Niagara falls during memorial day long weekend. I was traveling with my wife, my aunt and my little kid (2 and 1/2 year old). I am glad that I searched and read reviews over here at tripadvisor.com and booked a room at this hotel. I got a courtyard room which is opening right onto poolside, which is the best area of hotel. Room size was reasonable and service was pretty good. My kid really loved poolside fun and I think that is the best part of this hotel. Room was clean had refrigerator and coffeemaker. It would certainly help a great deal if they had microwave in the room. Parking and highspeed wireless internet was free and everything is nearby including pizzahut, drug store, grocery store, wendy's and 99 cent store.
The falls from here is about 1 mile away where we drove. I certainly recommend this to anybody with kids. It is a great place to stay with friendly staff.
certainly a better place to stay...
highly recommended particularly for families with kids.
