We
stayed at the Blue Moon for two nights in late July, when there are very
few value-priced hotel rooms available on the Canadian side of the Falls.
We'd read the reviews here and decided to give this place a shot.
We wanted a two-bedroom suite (for 2 adults and two teenage girls) but
they were taken, so we booked two single rooms. Still, we paid about half
of what the Embassy Suites would have cost at the time.
The rooms were small and basic, but after all, we were there to see the
Falls, not hang out in the rooms. Service was terrific. The lady at the
desk had printed maps of the area, on which she drew the best route to the
Falls parking lot - very helpful, as there was construction on several
roads. She also made sure we were aware of the discount packages (we were)
but her reminder to call ahead for reservations on the Whirlpool Jet Boats
saved the day.
On dinner - we do NOT recommend walking across the street to Jack
Tanner's. It's hard to find a place that serves inedible jello, but they
managed it. Go down the street to Mick & Angelo's instead - great food
at decent prices (lesson learned: ask the motel owners for restaurant
recommendations).
In short, the Blue Moon is a place you should definitely consider. Use the
savings for extra attractions or souveniers, as we did.

We
periodically visit Niagara Falls either for nature trips or casino night
out. The last time, we decided not to go to a mega or chain hotel which
offers partial view or "almost a view" of the Falls. Instead, we
drove up Lundy’s Lane to stay in a smaller place. We went to the Blue
Moon Motel and we must say that we made a very good choice.
We had a Jacuzzi suite, #5, a cozy, beautifully decorated room with a
canopy queen brass bed and heart-shaped Jacuzzi appropriately lit with red
light and wrapped with mirrored walls. There was a small electric
fireplace as well. You could also watch the ceiling mounted TV from
Jacuzzi. While this was not one of their larger rooms, it managed to
nicely accommodate a makeup table, small fridge, coffee maker and sitting
area as well. Details like candles and flower arrangements completed the
attractive setting. All this for an incredibly low price!
While many motels in the area have pools visible from the street close to
traffic, their heated pool is located nicely at the back in a private
setting. There is a row of trees providing partial shade. It was not busy
and we were there on a very hot day. Beside the pool is a BBQ and grass
picnic area, with umbrella tables and picnic benches. All this creates a
relaxing atmosphere as if you were visiting friends’ or neighbors’
backyard rather than being at a commercial establishment.
The family who owns and runs this motel is striving to make everything
perfect and they are definitely succeeding. The owners, Doris and Ron are
extremely friendly and go out of their way to please. We have been there
twice now and we can say without hesitation that this is great value for
the money. They have a large repeat clientele which does not surprise us.
Clean, cozy, relaxing and affordable!
We
found this place to be as advertised. The reviews you read are accurate.
Doris is very helpful and pleasant. Our room was clean. Everything worked.
Some furnishings a bit old, but is understandible for a single-owner
operation. Compared to what else is available, this place is very good.
Book here with confidence that your stay will be pleasant.
We
stayed for 4 nights this July and enjoyed ourselves very much. The owners
and staff are very nice and friendly... rooms cleaned very well. Nicely
set-up kitchen. Shower very clean and good water pressure. Really enjoyed
the pool and the grill/picnic area. Overall, happy with our stay. Only
downside were the beds... not very comfortable for adults. Took the
mattress out of the fold-out sofa and that helped some.
Convenient location, couple minutes to the falls and plenty of
restaurants/shops nearby. Owner very helpful with directions and tips
about the area.
Charming little motel overall :)

It
is a casual, kind of funky little place. We had rented a car so it was an
easy, quick drive to the falls & other locations. The motel itself
seemed a bit "tired" and could use a bit of sprucing up. But the
owner was lovely and so helpful in giving directions, maps and
recommendations. The continental breakfast was small and light, but all
you really need in the morning is coffee & a muffin.
Lundy's Lane had everything you would need in terms of restaurants and
shopping. We ate dinner one night at Mick & Angelos about 1 mile down
Lundy's Lane and it was great. The outlet mall nearby is a complete waste
of time. Stores are expensive and the place was empty. Don't bother. But
we did find great buys at the Shoe Outlet which is a tiny place next door
to the Kentucky Fried Chicken, also on Lundy's Lane.
There are lots of things to do in the Niagara area- maybe too much! We
enjoyed the new casino and had their dinner buffet ($22.95 CD) one night.
It was amazing. All their casinos just went non-smoking and for us
non-smokers it was heaven. But the smokers have left in droves and the
casino was pretty empty.
The Clifton Hill area is super, super touristy. Loud, bright lights, lots
of place kids would love and parents would hate. Everything was
unbelievably expensive. If you love Las Vegas, you'll like this area. I
would NOT recommend taking a motel in this area. I can't imagine you'd get
1 minute of sleep!
The Blue Moon is a perfect choice if you are budget concious and don't
mind a simple, small place. The
Blue Moon Motel at 8445 Lundy's Lane in Niagara Falls,Canada is a great
place to stay!! The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The service is
great. The room we stayed in had a heart shaped jacuzzi with mood
lightning and a queen bed and was absolutely great. They supplied you with
bubble bath for the jacuzzi and also with shampoo, conditioner and saop.
There was a color television, a/c and a lovely fake fireplace that was
beautiful and also was a heater. There also was a mini refidgerator,
microwave and coffee pot with cups, coffee, sugar and creamer. Our room
was cleaned every day and fresh towels were always left along with
coffee, sugar, creamer and soap if needed. The bathroom was smalll but it
was very clean . The price for the room for was extremely reasonable. .
.infact we thought it was very cheap compared to other hotels by the
Falls. We ended up paying around $90 (US) for the room per night including
taxes. Althought you are a distance from the falls the shuttle bus runs
right by the motel, and at $6 a day for a pass it is well worth it. .
..cheaper than renting a car, gas and parking!!!
I would reccommend this motel to anyone wanting a great place to stay in
Niagara Falls!! We
stay every summer at the Blue Moon. The rates
are very reasonable, the rooms are clean. It's close to the Factory Outlet
Mall, Go Karts, Super Putt, Clifton Hill etc etc. The restaurants in this
area are cheaper than on Clifton Hill. They have a lovely pool with a real
deep end (unlike many hotels at the Falls)., and because its a smaller
hotel the pool is never packed as in many of the larger hotels. They also
have a BBQ & picnic area. It's near some great fruit farm &
markets also. I highly recommend this hotel.
