The amenities at this hotel are plentiful – so much so that you may never want to leave the hotel. Families traveling with children will love the entertainment possibilities – a pool, a PlayStation in the rooms, a game room, a clear view of the Falls from the rooms (including the fireworks display held on summer weekends), and much more. Holiday packages for families may include popcorn and movie night, complimentary tickets to one or more local attractions, and a magician's workshop. There are family shows in the on-site live theater and a kids' club to keep the little darlings busy. The hotel is only 90m (300 ft.) from the Falls and built in a curving design that allows virtually every room an unobstructed view. Even the standard rooms are generously sized with large bathrooms; upgraded rooms let you take a whirlpool bath with the Falls just a glance away.

Rooms on the upper floors have the best views of the Falls and are better appointed. All rooms feature the signature Sheraton "Sweet Sleeper" beds, which are among the most comfortable, luxurious beds anywhere. For a honeymoon, book one of the loft suites. With their two-story bank of windows overlooking the Falls, contemporary earth-tones decor, fireplace, and bedroom on the upper level, they are a luxury worth splashing out on. Take advantage of in-room candlelight dining for the ultimate romantic evening. Families are also welcomed here, with several packages; during Christmas and March breaks, a kids' club operates daily from noon to 9pm.

All rooms offer spectacular views of either the Falls or the Niagara Region. Rooms are smaller due to being built on top of the Minolta Tower Observation Deck . The rooms are not first-rate and don't include refrigerators but guests come here for the view, not the amenities. An indoor pool, whirlpool, and sauna are available for guest relaxation. The hotel's Applebee's Bar and Grill provides convenience though not always good service. Overall, if your main objective is the Niagara Falls view and not amenities, then the Oakes Hotel Overlooking the Falls is an ideal choice.
