My husband and I stayed at the Cadillac July 1st. The previous review helped us make- up our minds to stay there. We were not disappointed. The room rates were not as flexible as we'd hoped. It was $150 for one night (but I guess that was considered good for July 1st). Unfortunately, I woke-up a couple of times due to party-goers yelling in the street and drivers revving their engines. The motel is very old, so the walls aren't too thick. The staff seemed nice. They were flexible about letting us leave our car in their lot before and after check-in/out. This was a huge help because you'd have to pay to park elsewhere. Everything is in walking distance. The decor is muy retro (60s?), but it is kinda cute (at least in our room). You won't see that kind of decor in a few years, so it is kind of interesting. There was a bottle opened screwed to the bathroom door frame, and the headboard was white vinyl. The bed was very clean. Overall the room was moderately clean. The motel seems to be on the brink of going downhill because it is so old. Hopefully the current owners will put a lot of money and energy into maintaining it because it has a lot of character.
We
were given room #1 which was large and clean. The bathroom was kitchy but
clean (had to love the blue sink, tub and toilet).
We are on a 3 month trip crossing Canada & USA from West to East. Rte 20 becomes Lundy Lane, motel row, as we approach Niagara Falls. There are huge shopping malls and factory outlets, much ticky-tacky tourist stuff. Lundy Lane becomes Ferry Road, the location of our motel. The closer we got to the motel, the tackier the area grew. It was like we had taken a wrong turn and ended up in Tiajuana. Loud music blared from the Latino dance hall across the street, street vendors are everywhere. The Cadallic Motel is definitely a budget motel. It is probably from the sixties or seventies. Nothing in the décor matches; no phone; no breakfast; no internet; no exhaust fan or electrical outlet in the bathroom; the carpet is ugly and stained. TV reception is limited to what they can receive by aerial. On the good side, the room is clean, bed is comfortable, no bad smells, fridge and A/C work just fine. Also has microwave. Although located on a main street, we heard no street noise during the night. The check-in was prompt and the room was as requested – Queen, N/S, $100 CDN for two nights!! When you see what the other places are charging, this is a deal. The clerk, who is also one of the owners, lives on premises. She was very helpful with directions and suggestions for where to go and see the main attractions. Yes, you can walk to all the major spots; and yes, we could see the fireworks from the motel parking lot. |
Upon
arrival, we immediatly noticed it was not a Sheraton or a Hilton Hotel; it
is a bit out-dated. Our room was also old fashioned; included a microwave,
refrigerator, television, a table with 2 chairs, a tiny couch and a
dresser with a mirror. We were fortunate to have our room located near the
back or further away from the street, due to busy traffic and music from
restaurant from across the street; which has great nachoes by the way. The
room was cozy, although the walls were a bit too thin, the bed was very
squeeky and you can often hear your neighbours. We recieved great friendly
service the entire stay and they were always around to give tourist
attraction advice. The best part of the motel is it's location; it is 10
minute walk to the falls and about 5 minute walk from the main attraction
area, and 10 minutes away from the fallsview casino and skylon restaurant.
Stayed
at the Cadillac Motel on Ferry street and really can't complain
about anything. The motel is clean, and the rooms are average. I guess
what they aim for is comfort and thats exactly what we got. Reception was
polite, price was really good and location is superb! What more can you
ask for.
