This motel should be closed down. It is filthy dirty!! The bathroom was disgustingly dirty, the mess around the toilet was unbelievable. We were 4 people and were supplied with only 1 face cloth and 3 towels, and 1 roll of toilet paper. If it is to stay open, they need to take some of that money that they are charging people and do some major repairs and higher a proper cleaning staff. Oh, and a big laugh was the fact that they advertise a continental breakfast included, and all it was, was a 4 cup coffee perculator and the rest was instant coffee, also a 40 box of timbits and a box of cheerios. No place to even sit and enjoy your "instant coffee". Travellers beware, don`t book your stay at this motel.

I must say our experience was certainly very different from that of the travelers who have recently posted reviews. We arrived in our room to find it acceptably clean. The carpet looked fairly new and the furnishings were dated but adequate. The bathroom was clean and had good water pressure. We found the front desk staff helpful with any concerns we had and willing to offer any information we needed in finding our way around the area.
Yes, when we arrived in our room, there were not enough sets of towels for our group of three, but this was quickly remedied with a call to the desk. We also had to ask for toilet paper at the front desk as another traveler did, an inconvenience sure, but we didn't expect five star treatment from this establishment, just a clean, comfortable place to sleep at night. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows were flat, so if you like a plump pillow, bring one from home.
I will say that as I looked into some of the other rooms I noticed that some of the carpet did seem more worn than that in our room. I would ask for a room on the upper level as those rooms seemed to generally be in better shape, maybe more people request a room on the lower level, plus you can see the fireworks from the upper level. Yes, the included breakfast was a joke, we went to a local store and kept our own pastries in our room for breakfast since the food in the area is so expensive. After our first shortage of towels we were routinely given extra towels, though you might want to bring some of your own if you plan to use the pool.
I'm sure we could have found a much nicer place to stay in the vicinity, but not for the same price and certainly not in as accessible a location. In this case the savings and location made up for the small inconveniences we endured.

Oh my where to start!
We wanted two days at niagara so we booked 2 nights at The Sunset Inn. When we arrived they showed us to a room that the beds had not been changed or made.We asked for a different room so they took us to another.Beds were made but it was dirty and smelly i think due to the carpet.there were cobwebs in the corners. When we went to bathroom there were no towels and when we asked at reception the man did not believe us and came to our room to check, I think that he though that we stole them.We ran out of toilet paper at 10pm and had to ask for another one. Each time we saw the older gentleman he was intoxicated whether it be day or night it was a total joke.
The last thing was the continental breakfast was a tiny cup of tea or coffee in a polystyrene cup and tinbits from Tim Hortons if you were lucky to get to reception in time. The kettle took ages to boil and you have to stand at the front desk because there are no seats or tables it is ridiculous.. It is such a shame as they are in a fantastic location. We would never consider this again.

Well, I was *extremely disappointed*. When I arrived, they first tried to give me a standard room. I had to argue a lot to get the family unit that I paid for.
The room was incredibly dirty. Clearly, the room had not been cleaned for weeks or months. They do not know what a vacuum-cleaner is. There was some garbage laying down quite everywhere in the room. The bathroom was also extremely dirty.
Some electrical plugs were also in a very bad shape, with possible electrical hazards.
In the morning, we met other guests who also shared this terrible experience. Never again in this motel.

Well I have stayed at this motel 3 times. The first 2 were great. The room we had was very big...We had a group so they gave us a room with 4 doubles beds (one large room with a 2nd connecting small room, 2 doubles in each). Everything was great. But the 3rd time we stayed there, the front desk said that the last time we stayed there, they found a hole punched in the bathroom wall!??! I couldn't believe it...I assured them it was not there from us, and was not there when we checked out...I would not miss a big hole in a wall! Plus I would have heard something! Anyway, they thought I was lying and made me pay $50!
I didn't even know what to say...I obviously refused to pay, but they charged my credit card and I had no choice...I will never return to this motel

SUNSET INN is one very nice motel. Whenever I visit niagara falls (atleast once a year). I dont think twice about where to stay. The rooms are better then some of the more expensive franchinse motels. I stayed in the honeymoon suite with a juccuzi and a canopy bed. Had a great a time :). I have also brought my friends here and booked 4 connecting rooms, an excellent way to stay with friends and party.
The location cant get any better also. Short walk to the casino, falls, clifton hill ANYWHERE they are right in the center of everything!

We had booked a one night stay for my family through Hotwire. This is the most filthy hotel I have ever been too. The room was very dated and unclean. There were an extensive cigarette burns all over the carpet, bed spreads, chairs, and even the phone book. Only one of the three lights in the room worked. There were wires hanging out of the wall and the fire detector had been removed and not replaced on the ceiling. When I commented to the front desk about the condition of the room , I was told that all of the rooms were like that. Fortunately, Hotwire was more than accomodating and set us up in a different hotel. I would have rather of slept in my car with my kids, than spend a night in that hotel. After a long drive, the condition of the Sunset Inn, almost ruined our Ontario/Niagara Falls vacation.

I must say I was extremely disappointed -- our rooms smelled musty, the connecting door had a hole punched in it, the walls were dirty and in desperate need of paint, the carpets were dirty and threadbare, upholstered chairs in both rooms were filthy and stained, basically looks like the drapes, carpets, etc. have not been updated in decades. It appears that the owners are not investing a dime in their property. Please understand that I was well aware that the motel had a 2 star rating, so I did not expect any amenities or luxuries and I don't believe I had unrealistic expectations. All I expected was a clean, fresh room. The place was so bad that we couldn't even stay there and stayed at the Courtyard Marriott instead -- the rooms were only $20 more per night and were absolutely lovely. I noticed some of the reviews of the Sunset Inn were kind of old so maybe it was better in the past, but it really is unacceptable today.

On the bright side, this motel is well located (Corner of LUNDY`S LANE & STANLEY, less than 1 kilometer from CLIFTON HILL entertainment district)......The people at the front desk, were polite & always very helpful with our needs. However, the problem had to do with the uncleanliness of our room which we had booked for 6 nights.....My wife had to clean the bathroom, as well as the microwave & refrigerator which we had requested....The vacuum cleaner was passed just once during the week and not on the 1st day at that (The room was dusty, the rug was not clean and the bathroom was doubtful)...Also, we were 2 adults & 2 children, yet when we got to the room, we only had 2 sets of towels.....Everyday, we had to go back to the front desk to ask for more towels even though they knew that we needed 4 sets. We also had to ask for an extra roll of toilet paper, there was no box of Kleenex....The pool`s cleanliness was average to say the least....The advertized continental breakfast consisted of a pot of coffee(when there is some...) and a box of Tim Horton Munchkins.....Needs a big clean up.....

I absolutely hated this place. I would never recommend this motel to anyone else, even if I didnt really like them, it was that bad.
(1) Rooms smell like carpet has water in them, just an unpleasant odor.
(2) No card access to rooms, old-styled keys, with doors that opened to an exterior corridor, and could be felled by one strong kick by a 10 year old.
(3) Rooms reeked of smoke, even though we were promised non-smoking rooms.
(4) Bathroom fixtures were all leaky, and not robust, they would bend in your hand.
(5) Welcome to the tiniest soaps in the western hemisphere.
(6) There were NO towels in the rooms. When we asked, the lady in the front would not believe it, like we went to the rooms and rightaway stole them!! And then she would give us only 3 for my family of 4. She sais she could give me more at 11 AM the next day, just in time for my checkout, I guess.
(7) Lobby was equally dirty, coffee was the lightest I've ever seen, alll in all, an expreince that even the lovely Nigara Falls nearby will not erase from your mind.
I booked this through hotwire, and while I have been very happy in the past with their offers, this left a bad taste in my mouth.
I also see that there have been some 4 star ratings for this place, I sincerely believe that those are "stuffed ballots".
